The Elite Part of Strid

Kanas caught up not a moment too soon. He looked through the peephole to get an idea of what the were up against.

"Jaus," Kanas said, getting an idea, "how hungry are your right now?"

He looked over at Kaoru and winked. He was sure they knew what he was thinking.

Valentin blanched. "I just started a bag of blood in the kitchen so not terribly but I could take a little from each after we knock them out to give me extra strength." He didn't want to kill them but decided on a different solution. "Kanas if you and Kaoru will stay in here and watch out the peephole. If they start attacking feel free to shoot." Valentin held out two of the pistols he had taken from his inner room.

Kaoru walked up and took one of the pistols from Valentin. "I think it's a good idea." The gun trembled a little bit in her hand. She smiled at the two men and prepared for a tough fight.

"Aye," Kanas agreed as he took his pistol. He felt a little more secure now that he had a gun in his hand. He twirled it around on his index finger and cocked it. He was ready for a gun show if there needed to be one.

"We're gonna be alright," Kanas whispered to Kaoru, "Once we get out of here, we should ditch the city. I hear Tiroch is a little more safer than this place. Whatever your choice is." Kanas periodically checked through the peephole to make sure their guests didn't notice them.

Valentin smiled at the two of his guests and the opened the door and walked out into the lobby. "How may I help you gentlemen." He smiled at the three beefy men in his lobby.

The one to his right answered. "We have a right to believe you are hiding a fugitive here." The man held up a poorly taken picture of Kanas. "We also have a right to believe he has kidnapped a girl." He held up a picture of Kaoru taken in an alley in a poor area of Strid. Valentin put two and two together. Kanas had probably been shot because he came after Kaoru into the park. There was no way a girl with a heavy pack and bo staff could run faster than that boy. "We also have a right to believe you are involved." He held up one more picture that showed Valentin, Kaoru, and Kanas in the park.

"I'm afraid you've overstepped your boundaries gentlemen." Valentin reached up and grabbed the pictures out of the man's hands. He threw them in the guys face and quickly drew his derringer and shot the man in the elevator in the shoulder. He elbowed the man standing in front of him and knocked him out. The man in the elevator was screaming. Kanas and Kaoru could surprise the man on his left. He dashed forward and knocked out the man in the elevator.

Kanas walked out silently behind the gaurd, pulled his sword out, stabbed the bloody chap from behind and then cut his head off, just for good measures. Kanas nodded towards Kaoru.

"Watch her, Jaus. Come pick me up at the end of the street. I'll handle those chaps on the roofs," Kanas said. He turned and stepped outside and quickly dove behind a car. A sniper round hit where he stood only too late as he hid behind cover. He stood quickly and found the sniper within a second before ducking again. Another round. He assumed the typical soldier sniper positions. The one in the building across from him, two in the building to the left, on in the righ, three around the right corner, and one around the left. Getting his bearings, he cocked his pistol and twirled it. Time to work his magic.

He stood and fired the first round at the first sniper. Direct hit. The sniper fell out of the window and hit the ground with a muffled thud. He aimed at the next two and fired one each. Both were direct hits.

He ran around the right corner and hid behind another car. It didn't take long before he fired three more bullseyes. He quickly dashed to the other side and shot into the window of the last sniper. This time was different. He didn't hear the mechanized grunt nor the lound beep of the soldier's flat line. "Sh!t," he cursed and ducked. a sniper round shot from the bottom of the building and clipped his shoulder. He fired back with another direct hit. They used a dummy.

Remembering the plan, he ran to the end of the street, firing one bullet per soldier and reloading twice. He remained calm and resolute. Once he reached the check point, he hid in a small apartment on the first floor for his ride. He didn't have much time though, the soldiers were already checking the apartments. "Damn it!" He swore.

Kaoru walked out of Jaus' apartment and looked the the guards on the floor. Kanas had gone down the stairs to the main level and Jaus stood on the elevator with the bleeding man. She walked over and got on the elevator with Artemis following her. She had to ask Jaus something "Did you kill them?"

Valentin pushed the bleeding man out of the elevator. "No only knocked them out." He looked over at the man he hadn't taken care of. "Kanas apparently had other ideas." Valentin pushed the button on the elevator for lobby and then started opening the emergency exit on the elevator. He climbed on top of the elevator and held his hand down for Kaoru. "Come on there's probably more in the garage. We'll be less obvious this way."

Kaoru grabbed his hand after picking Artemis up and handing her bo staff to him. She got on top of the elevator as it slowly sunk towards the lobby. "So when it gets to the lobby we jump down and attack correct?" she asked

"Yes that would be the plan." Valentin answered her as he pulled off another panel and replaced the grate over the exit. "I'll use this entrance because it will be easier for me to break through the ceiling of the elevator and you use that. Using your staff is probably a good idea." he smirked at her and they waited. The elevator finally reached the garage and dinged. The doors opened and two guards walked in the elevator. Valentin jumped down on top of the one below him knocking him out. He could see three more guards in the garage.

Artemis jumped down at the same time as Valentin and landed gracefully on the second guard's face. His claws dug into the man's flesh causing him to stumble backwards. Kaoru jumped down with her pack and staff and grabbed a pressure point knocking the man out. Kaoru rushed out of the elevator as the man slumped to the ground. She used her staff in a full sweep knocking all three of the guards in the lobby to the ground.

The left most guard started to get up immediately and Kaoru brought her staff down full force on the guy's stomach knocking the wind out of him and knocking him out. The man in the middle was on his knees and she used the back part of her staff to hit the man in the nose, breaking it. He started screaming until she kit him again the same way in the forehead and he fell backwards unconscious.

Valentin watched as Kaoru used her martial arts to take out three of the five men. The guard on the right was standing now and getting ready to shoot her in the back. Valentin rushed forward and grabbed the man's gun. A shot fired at the same time as he grabbed the gun and he and the man fell with Jaus on top of him. Valentin punched the man until he was out cold. Jaus stood and looked over to see if Kaoru was okay.

Kaoru heard a shot and instantly felt pain in her right side. She looked down at her side and saw blood spreading through her shirt. She slumped over and fell to the ground clutching the wound. It hurt. He hand was warm and sticky now. Her staff made a loud slapping sound on the concrete and Artemis was standing by her sitting form.

Valentin rushed over and laid Kaoru in his arms. He quickly ripped part of his brand new suit jacked and wrapped it over the wound as she lay in his arms. "Are you okay? Hold on we'll get you to my house." Valentin mumbled to himself as he gathered her staff and carried her to his Lotis Evora. He laid her in the back seat and watched as he cat joined her. He put her pack on the floor and got in the drivers seat. He backed out and tore out of the garage and down the road to his meeting point with Kanas. When he arrived he noticed Kanas was in the shadows in an apartment complex.

Kaoru was burning up. She still clutched her side even though Valentin had wrapped it quickly. She felt bad for ruining his suit. He gently put her in the back seat of a nice sports car. She grimaced as the went over the bumpy roads in the elite part of Strid. She felt the car stop and waited to see what transpired.

Kanas watched as the pretty sports car pulled to a stop. He knew it was Jaus. He ran to the car, shooting the three gaurds fixing to fire into it. Before he got half way to the car, he heard rythmic booms coming from the road in front of Jaus. He had encountered that sort of thing before, and began to dread the worst for Kaoru. It wasn't but a few seconds before the ground shook as the massive super-soldier emerged from behind a building. He was covered head to toe in thick armor and held a very large machine gun in his hand as if it were a pistol. His heart sank. The behemoth ran towards them faster than he could think.

"Drive! Get the f*ck out of here! Go no-" he was interupted as the monster simply flicked him aside into the building he just emerged from as if he were a paper ball. He felt a sharp, burning pain as he hit the far wall in the second story apartment and looked down to see a large protruding pipe sticking out of him like a new apandage. It ran through him and pinned him on the wall above ground. He groaned in pain, but refused to scream. He knew it wouldn't be too long before his eyes shut and he passed out. He prayed for a miracle.

Savvy arrived in time to see some sort of new commotion. A large bloke in a full armored body suit and a nice sports car in a fight for survival. Most likeely, the man would win. Savvy knew, however, he was an elven vampire. Not much of anything was prepared to deal with that sort of creature. He feared nothing except a grunt that was coming from a large hole in the apartment behind the soldier. He assumed the soldier had already gotten to someone. He could also smell the blood coming from the apartment. Savvy didn't understand why, but this angered him slightly.

"G'Evening, chap," Savvy called to the monster before it smashed the car. "That would be a very unwise decision for you to make."

"And why is that, little friend?" The man asked. The grunts were getting quieter.

"Have you ever heard of the Imps? Elven vampires?" Llydia said as she walked gracefully to Savvy's side. She put one arm around him as Savvy put his arm over her shoulder.

"Uh... No. Not really," the over-sized suit said.

"Well, I'm certain you know of human vampires. You know of their strength and agility, how they can match a human in every way. That includes you, by-the-way. Well, we are elven vampires. Elves naturally are stronger than humans, so an elven vampire... You see where this is headed?" Llydia explained. The soldier contained a stupified expression.

"I don't think he understands, love. Maybe you should give a demonstration," Llydia said to Savvy. She half grinned.

Valentin looked up out of the windshield of his Lotus. "Holy sh*t." He threw his car into reverse and backed up. He quickly backed his car into the personal garage of someone's town home. "Kaoru I'll be right back." He ran out of the garage and up into the apartment Kanas had been flung into. He ran up the stairs quickly and ignored the giant and the two new comers.
He burst into the empty apartment and found a pipe sticking out of Kanas. "Fuc*. Kanas can you hear me?" Valentin touched Kanas' face.

Kanas found it hard to concentrate, but he looked up at Jaus with all his might. He needed medical help, and he needed it fast. He had no choice but to put his trust in Jaus' and Kaoru's arms, though it was most likely just Jaus' arms.

"O-ouch," Kanas wheezed.

Valentin pulled on Kanas. He pulled him off of the pipe and into his arms. He used his coat to made a wrapping for Kanas. He carried the boy down the stairs and into the garage he backed into. He set Kanas in the front seat and got in the drivers side and pulled out of the garage and started heading for Restaul. Valentin drove around the large city and away from the giant robot thing. His excellent driving skills got him all the way to the outskirts of Restaul where his country home.

Valentin's Home

Savvy jumped onto the giants back and grabbed his head. Effortlessly, as with any vampire, he crushed it. More oil than blood spilled into his hand. He gagged in disgust.

"Bloody machine," he cursed quietly. "Darling, we need to follow that car. I have a parculiar interest in the wounded chap they took with them."
